Moose Weekes is known most for his huge personality, wild antics, all while playing above the rim and sporting one of the best afros in pro sports!
His dream started when his mom, a single parent who also played basketball, instilled a love for the game in her son. “In third grade, I remember building a basketball goal with some of my friends. We took a wooden board, nailed it to a tree, cut out the bottom of a plastic crate, then nailed the crate to the board. We raked the ground, sprayed it with water, then stomped the dirt to pack it in, and we had a basketball court.,” he says.
Moose became an outstanding high school player and went on to play college ball at Middle Tennessee State, where he led the Blue Raiders in blocks as a freshman and broke the school record for most blocked shots in a game, with eight. He studied wellness and exercise science in college and would enjoy training other athletes following his playing days.
Moose and his fabulous hair have graced television screens with appearances on NBC’s “TODAY,” “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," "The Late Late Show with James Corden," Disney’s “Dog with a Blog,” ABC’s “The Goldbergs,” Food Network’s “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen,” HBO’s “Vice,” Nickelodeon’s “Mutt & Stuff,” “ABC’s “Good Morning America,” The Weather Channel, NBA TV’s “The Starters,” and “Gametime. When Moose isn’t on the court he loves spending time with his family, cooking, painting, singing with his daughter Lexi and writing songs. He is known by his teammates as “The food connoisseur” and as “A Certified Foodie.” When traveling and looking for the best food a city has to offer, anywhere in the world, Moose will find it!
