Celebrating Creativity and Community: Meet the Top 10 Finalists

We're thrilled to announce the top 10 finalists in the running for a special visit from The Harlem Globetrotters, thanks to the generous support of Jersey Mike's! From Delaware to California, these schools have showcased incredible creativity and teamwork, blending academics with basketball in innovative ways. Let's take a closer look at each finalist:

  1. Clayton Intermediate School - Clayton, Delaware
    Clayton Intermediate School engaged in "March Mathness," integrating math challenges with basketball. Their teacher vs. student basketball showdown fostered camaraderie and sportsmanship, showcasing the power of learning through play.

     

  2. Dream Lake Elementary - Apopka, Florida
    Dream Lake Elementary used a basketball-themed review to prepare for state science assessments. Their dedication to incorporating basketball into learning reflects a commitment to holistic education.

     

  3. Edgar Road Elementary - Webster Groves, Missouri
    Inspired by the origins of The Harlem Globetrotters, Edgar Road Elementary's 4th graders combined creativity and basketball across various subjects - our favorite was creating a basketball court for their class pet, a hedgehog named Cocoa! Their teamwork and innovative projects exemplify the spirit of the contest.

     

  4. Gaston Day School - Gastonia, North Carolina
    Gaston Day School's third graders showcased their creativity by designing structures to hold basketballs, emphasizing teamwork and problem-solving. Their initiative to share basketball with the local community highlights their dedication to service.

     

  5. Guy E. Rowe Elementary - Norway, Maine
    Guy E. Rowe Elementary's imaginative approach to literature and basketball led to magical discussions about turning everything into basketballs. Their creativity and enthusiasm demonstrate the joy of learning.

     

  6. Laurel Hill Elementary School - Lorton, Virginia
    Laurel Hill Elementary promotes inclusivity through basketball, inspiring students of all abilities to strive for success. Their dedication to celebrating each other's achievements embodies the true spirit of sportsmanship.

     

  7. Nova Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary - Davie, Florida
    Preparing students for standardized tests, Nova Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary used basketball to instill confidence and motivation. Their inclusive approach to education fosters a supportive learning environment.

     

  8. St. Gregory the Great Academy - Hamilton Square, New Jersey
    St. Gregory the Great Academy's stop-motion film, created by enthusiastic students, showcases their talent and teamwork. Their dedication to their school's success shines through their creative endeavors.

     

  9. Whittier Elementary School - Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin
    Whittier Elementary School celebrated Black History Month by researching the history of The Harlem Globetrotters. Their timeline project highlights the team's evolution and impact, blending education with basketball.

     

  10. Williams Elementary School - Bakersfield, California
    Williams Elementary School combined sports and literacy by creating basketball-themed reading buddies. Their dedication to promoting a love of reading and basketball among students is truly commendable.
